ITHACA, New York — The No. 6 ranked Marietta College men's rowing team raced against No. 1 ranked Williams College and Rochester Institute of Technology Saturday (April 5) at the Ithaca Duals.
 
"Overall, it was some great racing this weekend. We knew we had a challenge with top-ranked Williams in the first session and our crews rose to the challenge," Marietta head coach Greg Myhr said. "Williams jumped out quick in both eights, but we were able to hang in there and race hard. In the second session, both eights took care of business early and lengthened their lead throughout the race."
 
Williams won the varsity eight race with a time of 5:57.0 with the Pioneers crossing in 6:06.2. In the second varsity eight race Williams (6:00.3) won by three seconds over Marietta (6:03.3). Marietta (6:51.7) downed Williams B (7:03.15) in the varsity four first session.
 
In the second session Marietta swept both eight from RIT. The varsity eight crew crossed the line in 6:00.7, thirty seconds ahead of RIT (6:30.7). The second varsity eight posted a winning time of 6:05.2 with RIT crossing in 6:42.8.
 
The second session varsity four race went to Williams A (6:44.37) as the Ephs beat Marietta (6:55.37) to the finish line.
 
Marietta is back on the water next Saturday (April 12) fir the Schuylkill Invitational in Philadelphia.
