Men’s Lacrosse drops home finale to conference leader Baldwin Wallace

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College men's lacrosse team lost their final home game of the season 22-5 to Baldwin Wallace on Friday (April 18) afternoon   The loss drops the Pioneers to 8-7, 3-6 in Ohio Athletic Conference.  The Yellow Jackets improved to 12-7 overall and remained undefeated in the OAC at 8-0. 

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to four-goal lead as they control the first nine minutes of the matchup.  Marietta broke through at the 3:58 mark as Aiden Evans (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South) scored from the extreme right side of the goal.   Nate Neal (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) followed with a score of an assist by Sam Leininger (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake), cutting the lead to two.  Baldwin Wallace found the net with less than three minutes and enjoyed 5-2 lead after one period.
 
The Yellow Jackets exploded for eight scores, four from Noah Dodgion, in the first 11minutes of the second period, and extended the lead to 13-2.  Leininger briefly stopped the run, getting a score off of an assist from Alec Anderson (Loveland, Ohio/Little Miami), but Baldwin Wallace stayed firmly in control, taking a 13-3 lead into intermission.
 
Baldwin Wallace widened the lead with seven unanswered goals during the third period, and successfully kept the Pioneers off the board, pushing the lead to 20-3 after three periods.  Neal and Tommy Imhof (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) were able to add scores in the fourth but the difference was too much to overcome and Baldwin Wallace won, 22-5.
 
Ben Millard (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) played all 60 minutes in goal, he faced 71 shots,  40 of which were on goal, and made 18 saves.  

The Pioneers will return to action Wednesday (April 23) when they travel to battle Otterbein University in their regular season finale, with the game scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
