WASHINGTON, Pa. — Ice cold shooting plagued Marietta College as the Pioneers lost to Trine University by the score of 86-55 Saturday (Nov. 22) afternoon in the Great Lakes Invitational being hosted by Washington and Jefferson College. The loss drops Marietta to 4-2 on the season. Trine improves to 4-1 overall.
The Pioneers shot 29% from the floor, including 26% from three-point range and 61% from the free throw line. Conversely, Trine connected on 47% from the floor, 47% from three-point range and 79% from the line.
A three-pointer from
Jake Singleton (Senecaville, Ohio/Meadowbrook) gave Marietta its only lead of the game, 3-2. Trine responded with a 14-2 run and never looked back. The Thunder led by 19 at the half, 46-27, and led by as many as 35 points in the second half.
Elijah Harden (Sharon, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) led the Pioneers with 15 points.
KJ Reynald Jr. (Blacklick, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) added seven points, while Singleton and
Darius Carden (Ooltewah, Tenn./McMinn Central) each chipped in with six points.
Jayden Bradshaw (Blanchester, Ohio/Fayetteville-Perry) paced the Thunder with 18 points.
Danny Flood (Valley City, Ohio/Buckeye) finished with 17 points. Logan Mckenzie and Elias Lewis each added nine points.
Marietta is back in action on Wednesday (Nov. 26) at Wittenberg University. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
