BEREA, Ohio — A pair of goals five minutes apart led Baldwin Wallace University to a 2-1 win over Marietta College Saturday (Oct. 25) evening in Ohio Athletic Conference men's soccer action. The loss drops Marietta to 5-10-2 overall and 2-4 in the OAC. Baldwin Wallace improves to 6-11-1 overall and 2-4 in the OAC.

Scoring opportunities were limited for both teams in the first half. Baldwin Wallace managed two shots on goal, while the Pioneers had just one. The teams went into halftime tied 0-0.

Both offenses picked up in the second half. Marietta got on the board firsts in the 71st minute. The Pioneers earned a throw in deep in Yellow Jacket territory. Sam Holthaus (Columbus, Ohio/University) put the throw in the back of the net for his third goal of the season.

Momentum swung back to Baldwin Wallace when the Pioneers were whistled for a foul in the box giving the Yellow Jackets a penalty kick. Braden Lamb converted the penalty leveling the match, 1-1.

BW stayed on the attack and grabbed the lead in the 84th minute. Owen Huzicka gathered a loose ball in the box and put the shot into the net for the game winning goal.

Noah Walker (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) had 10 saves in goal for Marietta. Seth Warrick had one save for the Yellow Jackets.

Marietta hosts the University of Mount Union on Wednesday (Oct. 29). Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
