CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts — The Marietta College men's rowing team competed in the 60th annual Head of the Charles Regatta Sunday (Oct. 19) afternoon. The three-day regatta is contested on the Charles River and covers three miles of water.

The Pioneers competed in the men's collegiate 8+ race and finished 13th out of 42 crews entered. Holy Cross won the race finishing the course in 14:25.533, 13 seconds ahead of second place Tufts (14:38.707). Marietta posted a time of 15:05.221.

"This was our best results at the Head of the Charles since 2017. We are really proud of how the team raced," Marietta head coach Greg Myhr said. "They attacked all the way down course, passing Coast Guard and nailing the turns of the Charles River. This result will set us up for a strong finish to the season next week in Philadelphia for the Head of the Schuylkill."

Founded in 1965, the Head of the Charles has grown into the world's largest three-day rowing event. Today, more than 12,000 athletes from around the world compete in 73 different race events.

Marietta wraps up the fall racing season next Saturday (Oct. 25) at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia.
