MARIETTA, Ohio — Carnegie Mellon University defeated Marietta College by the score of 7-0 Saturday (Sept. 28) afternoon in men's soccer action. The Pioneers finish the nonconference portion of their schedule with a 3-5-1 record. CMU improves to 6-2-2 overall.
The Tartans grabbed an early lead when Dallan Schoenberger scored off an assist from Dominic Hoar-Weiler in the thirteenth minute.
Marietta didn't help itself when a Pioneer defense deflected a CMU cross into the Pioneer net in the 33rd minute giving the Tartans a 2-0. Carnegie Mellon added two more goals in the first half for a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Diederik Schlingemann scored in the 37th minute with an assist from Drew McKim and Billy Boucuvalas found the back of the net with an assist from Julian Koide in the 43rd minute.
CMU extended its lead with three unassisted gals in the second half. Chriss Lee scored in the 54th minute, Kyle Raker in the 81st minute, and Juan Otero in the 86th minute.
Marietta opens Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday (Oct. 5) when No. 14 ranked Ohio Northern visits Marietta Field for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff.
