WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Marietta College senior midfielder
Angelene Kontul (Solon, Ohio/Solon) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Midstream Lighting Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Monday (Sept. 23) afternoon by the league office.
Kontul put on an offensive showcase this last week for the Pioneers, scoring five goals and leading her team to two wins. This is the first time in her Pioneer career that she has claimed the conference weekly award.
Last Wednesday, Kontul collected Marietta's first hat trick in over seven seasons in an impressive 4-1 victory over Chatham University. On Saturday, she provided all the offense that the Pioneers would need as she connected on a pair of goals on the way to 2-0 victory over Kenyon College.
The two wins for the week extends the Pioneer winning streak to three, their longest streak since 2019.
The Pioneers will return to the field Saturday (Sept. 28) when they travel to battle Oberlin College. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
