Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Case Western Reserve downs Men's Soccer 2-0

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Case Western Reserve University scored a pair of first half goals as the Spartans defeated Marietta College by the score of 2-0 Wednesday (Sept. 18) evening in men's soccer action. The loss drops Marietta to 2-4-1 on the season, while Case Western improves to 4-2-0 overall.

Case Western controlled the possession for most of the first half, but the Pioneer defense managed to keep the Spartans off the scoreboard until the 28th minute. Adam Pluszczyk took a pass from Kysen Kroeger and scored the game winner. His first goal of the 2024 season.

The Spartans wasted little time doubling their lead. Kroeger found the back of the net less than three minutes later off an assist from Lukas Dalakis.

Case Western's defense frustrated the Marietta strikers all evening. The Pioneers managed just three shots in the match, none on goal. Stephen Vilardo got the clean sheet despite not recording a save in the match.

Andrew Stein (Wilmington, N.C./Hoggard) went the distance in goal for the Pioneers. He posted three saves.

After playing five straight games on the road, Marietta finally returns home this Saturday (Sept. 21) when Allegheny College visits Marietta Field for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.
