GREENWOOD, Indiana — Six players from the Women's Soccer team earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District First team on Tuesday (Nov. 26) afternoon. Seniors
Angelene Kontul (Solon, Ohio/Solon),
Emma Egli (Homeworth, Ohio/West Branch),
Izzy Hank (North Olmsted, Ohio/Holy Name),
Emmah Kronenbitter (Zanesville, Ohio/Zanesville), and
Taylor Sloan (Belpre, Ohio/Warren) and sophomore
Dilyn Hunley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) were all recognized due to their excellence in the classroom as well on the field.
Kontul, a Psychology major, maintains a 3.93 grade point average. Kontul played in 18 games for the Pioneers and led the team with 23 points, also leading the Ohio Athletic Conference with 11 goals.
Egli, who is majoring in Early Childhood and Special Education, carries a 3.74 grade point average. She scored four goals for the Pioneers in 18 games played.
A Health Science major, Sloan carries a 3.79 GPA. She played in all 18 games, scoring three goals and assisting on two others.
Hank also carries a 3.79 grade point average while majoring in Health Science. She appeared in 15 games this season primarily as a defender, but she did score a goal and provided two assists on the season.
Kronenbitter, also a Health Science major, maintains a 3.77 GPA. She started in all 18 games for the Pioneers this season.
Hunley, the lone underclassman to earn this award, carries a 3.79 grade point average. She played in all 18 games for the Pioneers as a defender.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution.
Marietta finished a promising 2024 season with a 7-8-3 overall record and 3-5-1 in the OAC, just falling short of qualifying to play in the OAC playoffs.
