WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Marietta College women's soccer team dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference road matchup to Wilmington College, 3-0, on Saturday (Nov. 2) afternoon. The loss closes out the 2024 season for the Pioneers as they finish with a 7-8-3 record, 3-5-1 in the OAC. This season's win total was the highest for the Pioneers since 2019's eight victories.
Both teams battled back and forth for the first thirty minutes of the opening period with nothing to show on the scoreboard.

Kayla Stischok (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) had a scoring opportunity in the 23rd minute, but Storck again made the stop.
Wilmington finally broke through in the 36th minute as Grace Kingery sent a shot into the upper center of the net to give the Quakers a 1-0 lead. The Pioneers were not able to attempt any more shots as the period wound down but Wilmington scored a goal in the final seconds and took a 2-0 lead into intermission.
Marietta tried to get back into the contest as
Taylor Sloan (Belpre, Ohio/Warren) attempted a shot five minutes in the second period, but once again Storck made the stop to keep the Pioneers scoreless. Wilmington added an insurance goal four minutes later to put the score at 3-0. Although the Pioneers outshot the Quakers 12-3 in the final period, they could not tally any points on the board and Wilmington would go on to claim the contest, 3-0.
"It's another game that we were statistically dominate," said Marietta head coach
Zack Votra. "But at the end of the day way made the mistakes that Wilmington was able to capitalize on."
Sarah Legg (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) played the first 59 minutes in goal and faced five shots on goal, and made two saves in the game.
Maisee Carrier (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) came in to finish the game and did not face a shot on goal.
"I'm extremely proud of this group for yet another significantly improved season," said Head Coach
Zack Votra. "Anyone who has seen us play this season can tell we're continually getting better. We've established so much as team in terms of our identity both on and off the field and now have a concrete base for future success. We owe a great deal to our three fifth years and 8 senior student-athletes. They've forever left their mark on the Marietta College Women's Soccer program."
