GAMBIER, Ohio — The Marietta College men's soccer team lost to Kenyon College by the score of 4-0 Wednesday (Sept. 20) afternoon. The loss drops the Pioneers to 2-5-1 on the season. Kenyon improves to 5-2-0 overall.
Kenyon scored two goals 44 seconds a part in the opening minutes to take control of the match and the Pioneers never really recovered. Eamon Dujakovich scored with an assist from Aidan Burns at the 3:03 mark of the first half. He tallied his second goal at the 3:47 mark with an assist from Alem Duratovic.
The Owls doubled their lead with two more goals in the second half. Pablo Portillo scored an unassisted goal in the 79th minute. Duratovic made it 4-0 with an assist from Isaac Cortez in the 86th minute.
For the match, Kenyon outshot the Pioneers 17-6, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Owls took nine corner kicks, while Marietta earned zero corners.
Jack Pedreschi and Owen Boukalik combined in goal for Kenyon's shutout. Pedreschi started and played the first 83-plus minutes making three saves. Boukalik finished the match and did not record a save.
Luke Price (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) stated in goal for Marietta and allowed four goals in 85-plus minutes. He made three saves.
Zach Verbeck (Liberty Hill, Texas/Tom Glenn) did not record a save in the final 4:40 of the match.
Marietta travels to Pittsburgh this weekend for a match at Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday (Sept. 23). Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
