MARIETTA, Ohio — Baldwin Wallace University defeated Marietta College by the score of 8-1 Saturday (April 23) in Ohio Athletic Conference men's tennis. The loss drops Marietta to 3-10 overall and 0-4 in the OAC. BW improves to 11-4 on the season and 2-2 in the OAC.
Short one player, Marietta was forced to forfeit the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles matches spotting the Yellow Jackets a 2-0 lead before the match started.
Baldwin Wallace swept the other two doybles matches for a 4-0 lead. At No. 1, Trey Kernan and Matt McGee bested
Spencer Hall (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) and
Elivh Perez (Mexico City, Mexico/La Salle), 8-2.
Elliot Britton (High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire/John Hampden Grammar) and
Tyler Wise (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) lost to Jack Hindman and Caleb Reed at No. 2, 8-4.
Marietta's lone point came from Britton at No. 4 singles. Britton split sets with Anthony Tosatto losing the first, 4-6, and winning the second, 6-2. Britton picked up the victory with a 10-8 win in the tie breaker.
McGee downed Perez at No. 1, 6-1 and 6-0. In the No. 2 match, Kernan bested Hall, 6-2 and 6-1. Wise lost to Aidan Hicks at No. 3, 6-1 and 6-2, while Adam Zeidler beat
Gavin Donnell (/) at No. 5, 6-0 and 6-0.
Marietta closes out the regular season at Capital on Wednesday (April 27) at 4:00 p.m.
