Women’s Lacrosse loses on the road to Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio - The Marietta College women's lacrosse team dropped a road contest to Baldwin Wallace University, 17-8, on Saturday (April 2) afternoon.  With the loss the Pioneers fall to 6-4 overall and 0-3 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, and with the win the Yellow Jackets improve to 4-6 overall and 2-1 in OAC action.

The Pioneers got the scoring going first when Mackenzie Dyott (Easton, Md./Easton) found the net just two minutes into the contest. Baldwin Wallace would go on to score next five goals in the period, led by Kaitlyn Hradek's two scores.  Megan McGriff (Lakewood, Colo./Bear Creek) and Leeza Jongekryg (Holland, Mich./West Ottawa) tried to stop the surge as they scored to begin the second period.  The Yellow Jackets would put the next four scores on the board, with Maddie Ray providing two of those scores.  Jongekryg put in another late goal and the Pioneers found themselves down 9-4 at the half.

The two teams went back and forth in the third period but the Pioneers could not cut into the deficit.   McGriff scored with 8:14 remaining and Hope Adams (Delaware, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) put a goal on the board with three minutes left in the period.  The Yellow Jackets put it away in the fourth period, scoring five consecutive goals.  Anna Callow (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) and Kayla Kearns (Preston, Md./Easton) tacked on two late goals but the Pioneers would fall with the final score of 17-8
