Box Score SAN JUAN, P.R. – The Marietta College women's basketball team participated in day one of the Puerto Rico Clásico. The Pioneers fell to Colorado College, 70-61. The loss drops Marietta to 6-4 overall and the win pushes the Tigers to 6-5 overall.
The Tigers got off to quick start, but the Pioneers went on an eight-point run and cut the lead to 17-14 at the end of the first period. Colorado extended the lead in the second quarter with the help of an early six-point rally and took a 36-29 lead into intermission.
The Pioneers battled back in the third quarter and actually took three-point lead with 2:19 remaining in the period, but Colorado fought back and led by two going into the fourth quarter. Colorado took control in the final period, outscoring Marietta by seven and won the contest, 70-61.
Marietta was led by
Olivia Gribble (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) as she scored 12, shooting 3 of 10 from three-point range.
Adi Hill (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) finished with 11 points. Marietta struggled throughout the contest shooting 32% from the field, but was able to stay in the game scoring 23 points off of 23 Colorado turnovers.
Marietta will return to the court Tuesday (Dec. 20) afternoon when they play in day 2 of the Classic and the play Kean University with tip off scheduled for 1 p.m.
