11/10/2021 12:09:00 PM

MARIETTA, Ohio — Heading into the 2010-11 men's basketball season expectations for the Pioneers were positive, but nobody predicted the magical season that would set the foundation for Marietta's success on the hardwood for the next decade.

Marietta College Vice President for Communication and Brand Management Tom Perry revisits that record-setting winter with several of the prominent figures in the Pioneers' 27-4 season that resulted in the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships and a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Perry discusses the season with head coach Jon VanderWal; former players Trevor Halter '12, Kevin Knab '12, Joe Puch '12 and Tyler Hammond '14; Don Worstell, father of player Tyler Worstell '13; and Ryan Whitnable '11, the founder of This Week in Great Lakes Basketball podcast and the Great Lakes Invitational.

As the No. 3 ranked Pioneers get ready to open the 2021-22 season this weekend, enjoy this trip down memory lane with the team that started it all.
