MARIETTA, Ohio — Throughout the coming weeks, the Marietta College athletics department will be profiling our spring sports senior student-athletes who had their senior seasons cut short due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Our final senior is Manning Shaw (Charleston, S.C./School of the Arts) from the men's rowing team. Shaw is a four-year coxswain on the rowing team.

Manning is the son of Terri and Manning III Shaw from Charleston, South Carolina.

What is your major? — Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurship.

What are your plans after graduation? — Taking time off of academia to pursue coaching and then off to get my degree in marine carpentry and metal working so I can build racing shells for Resolute Racing (hopefully!)

What was your favorite class or professor at Marietta College? — Definitely my two entrepreneurship classes with Professors Lockhart and Roesch - where I learned courage, charisma, and how to laugh in the face of uncertainty and failure.

What is your favorite sports memory at Marietta College? — Watching 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' on the bus rides while the entire crew team quotes verbatim the script. And shooting finger guns at the Head of The Charles announcer crossing the start line!

What message or advice would you like to give your teammates? — Be courageous, study hard and "blaze a new trail Pios!"
