BEREA, Ohio – The Marietta College women's basketball team was defeated 89-60 by 11th ranked Baldwin Wallace University inside Ursprung Gymnasium on Saturday (Jan. 25) afternoon.  Win the win the Yellow Jackets improve to 15-2 overall and 8-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, and the Pioneers fall to 8-9 overall and 4-6 in OAC action.

Baldwin Wallace jumped out to an early lead as they opened the game on 15-3 run through the first five minutes of play.  The Pioneer points were scored by Devin Hefner (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg South), and Camille Cummins (MIddlefield, Ohio/Cardinal).  The Yellow Jackets stretched out a 24-3 edge, but Marietta ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to trim the lead to 24-10.  The run was sparked by an Alexis Enochs (Beverly, Ohio/Fort Frye) jumper and capped by a three from Bailee Brooks (Akron, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls).

The Pioneers continued to battled, and cut the lead to 24-15 to open the second quarter.  Marietta scored the first five points of the quarter with a layup from Enochs, and a three pointer from Marlo Taylor (Kimbolton, Ohio/Cambridge).  Baldwin Wallace answered with a 10-2 run that saw them stretch their lead to 34-17.  The Yellow Jackets continued to play well and took a 51-30 edge into the intermission.

The teams swapped buckets to open the third quarter and Baldwin Wallace maintained a 61-38 edge, with just over five minutes to play in the quarter.  The early third quarter Pioneers offense was led by six points from Enochs.  Late in the third quarter a 9-2 Yellow Jackets run gave them a 73-42 edge.  Marietta scored the final points of the third quarter when Enochs knocked down a pair of fouls shots, and the Pioneers trailed 73-44.

Marietta tried to notch a couple of runs late in the fourth quarter, but the Yellow Jackets always had an answer.  Baldwin Wallace maintained its lead and won the game, 89-60.
