BEREA, Ky. – The Marietta College women's volleyball team earned a dominate road victory over Berea College, 3-0 (25-8, 25-20, 25-11).  The win improves the Pioneers record to 10-4 overall and the loss drops the Mountaineers to 3-8 on the season.

Marietta jumped out to an early 7-0 lead to open the game.  The early offense was led by kills from Maddie Nader (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion), Becca Phelps (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison Comprehensive), and Sam Ritenour (Jeffersonville, Ohio/Miami Trace).  The Pioneers stretched their lead to 20-5 through the middle of the set behind kills from Hailey Fuller (Newark, Ohio/Granville), Brooke Trimble (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay), Alissa Ginther (Beverly, Ohio/Fort Frye), and Maris Kaiser (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy).  Marietta capped off the opening frame, and won 25-8.

The Pioneers outscored the Mountaineers 10-4 to begin the second set.  The offense was a well rounded attack as Kaiser, Phelps, Ginther, and Ritenour all notched kills.  Marietta extended its lead to 20-12 behind back to back service aces from Aly Wiseman (London, Ohio/Bishop Ready).  Berea battled to make the second set close, but the Pioneers won, 25-20.

The third and final set started as a tight game as the score was 4-3 in favor of Marietta.  The Pioneers rattled off seven straight points to take an 11-3 advantage.  The Marietta run was sparked by a pair of kills from Ginther.  The Pioneers finished the decisive set strong, and won 25-11.

The Marietta offense was led by Ginther as she had a match high 10 kills.  Ritenour added eight kills and Fuller and Phelps pitched in with seven kills in the game.  Defensively, the Pioneers were led by Braya Elsea (Circleville, Ohio/Logan Elm) and Abbi Thompson (Commercial Point, Ohio/Teays Valley) as they each tallied 11 digs in the match.  April Davis (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) added to the defense with 10 digs.
