Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s Lacrosse defeated by John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HTS., Ohio – The Marietta College men's lacrosse team dropped a road contest against Ohio Athletic Conference opponent John Carroll University, 24-0 on Thursday (April 18).  With the win the Blue Streaks improved to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the OAC and with the loss the Pioneers fall to 5-10 overall and 0-7 in OAC action.     

John Carroll grabbed an early lead in the first quarter with six straight goals to open the game.  The Marietta defense tightened to hold the Blue Streaks scoreless for the final seven minutes of the quarter, but the Pioneers entered the second quarter behind, 6-0.

John Carroll tacked on three unanswered goals in the second quarter and entered the intermission ahead, 9-0.  The Pioneers created numerous chances to score in the first half as Daniel Blaine (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty), Connor Ficke (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert), Seth Hower (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley), and Zach Klein (Evergreen, Co./Evergreen) all had shots.    

The Blue Streaks controlled the second half of the game as they scored 15 consecutive goals throughout the third and fourth quarter to win the game, 24-0.  

Marietta was led by Blaine as he picked up a team leading seven ground balls, and caused a pair of turnovers.  Blaine also won three face offs in the game.  Ficke tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with two, and also grabbed two ground balls.  Noah Coleman (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont Kettering), Hower, Jacob Morlando (White Bear Lake, Minn./Stillwater), Chad Stowell (Watertown, Minn./Delano), and TJ West (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) all had a caused turnover in the game.

Ryan McLane (Avon, Ohio/Avon) was in net for the Pioneers, he faced 53 shots, 34 of which were on goal, and made 10 saves.  

Marietta will return to the field Wednesday (April 24) when they host Muskingum University, with the game scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
