ANGOLA, Indiana. – The Marietta College women's basketball team was defeated by Albion College 75-67 on Saturday (Nov. 16) afternoon.  The loss drops the Pioneers record to 0-2 to start the year and the Britons improve to 3-0 overall.  
The teams traded baskets to for the first minute and a half of the opening quarter and a 
Marlo Taylor (Kimbolton, Ohio/Cambridge) three pointer put Marietta on top, 7-6.  Albion answered with an 11-0 run that saw them take a 17-7 edge midway through the quarter.  The Pioneers did not allow the Britons to extend the lead anymore behind a pair of late baskets from 
Emma Cannon (Wooster, Ohio/Dalton), and the Pioneers entered the second quarter behind, 27-14. 
Marietta battled for the opening five minutes of the second quarter as they cut the Britons lead to single digits on numerous occasions, behind buckets from 
Devin Hefner (Parkersburg, Wv/Parkersburg South), and Cannon.  The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the second quarter, and the Pioneers entered the half behind, 45-35.  
Marietta came out of the locker room ready to play, as they opened the third quarter on a 14-0 run that saw them take a 50-46 edge with just over four minutes to play in the third quarter.  The run was sparked by 
Jill Congrove (Circleville, Ohio/Logan Elm) as she notched nine of the 14 points during the run.  Albion answered with a 6-0 run that saw them regain a 52-50 lead with 55 seconds to play in the quarter.  The Pioneers entered the fourth quarter behind, 55-52.  
The Britons opened the fourth quarter on an 11-2 run that saw them increase their lead to 65-54, with just over seven minutes to play in the game.  Marietta answered with an 11-2 run of their own and trimmed the lead to 67-65, with just over three minutes remaining in the game.  The Pioneers come back fell just short, as they lost 75-67.  
Marietta was led by Taylor as she had 15 points, and pulled down three rebounds.  Congrove added 14 points, had a game high four assists, and tallied three steals.  Hefner led the defense with a game high four steals, and a team leading five rebounds.  
The Pioneers will return to action Wednesday (Nov. 20) when they play Washington and Jefferson in their home opener, with tip off scheduled for 7 p.m.
