Denison jumped out to a 4-1 lead early in the first set.  The Pioneers notched the first point of the game off a kill from Brooke Trimble (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay).  The Big Red maintained their lead through the middle of set, and led 14-9.  The Pioneers rattled off three straight points to cut the Denison advantage to, 14-12.  The run was led by kills from Hailey Fuller (Newark, Ohio/Granville), and Sam Ritenour (Jeffersonville, Ohio/Miami Trace).  The Big Red finished the set strong and won, 25-17.

Marietta opened the second set with a 4-2 edge.  The early Pioneer offense was led by kills from Trimble and Fuller.  Denison answered with a 5-0 run to grab a 7-4 lead.  The Big Red sustained their lead through the middle of the set, and led 21-14.  Marietta cut into the lead with a quick three points behind kills from Ritenour and April Davis (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora).  The Pioneers fell in the second set, 25-20.

Marietta opened the third set strong as they led, 6-2 early.  The offense was sparked by kills from Fuller and Ritenour, and a service ace from Davis.  The Pioneers continued to play well and led 14-10 in the middle of the set.  Denison responded to score eight of the next nine points to gain an 18-15 advantage.  Marietta could not regain the lead, and dropped the final set, 25-20.
