WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Marietta College had two men's boats on the water at the Knecht Cup on Sunday (April 9). The varsity 8+ crew failed to advance out of the semifinals, while the second varsity 8+ shell placed third in the D2/D3 race.
Despite cutting over 15 seconds off its time from the Saturday heats, the varsity 8+ crew finished a disappointing seventh in the semifinal race and did not advance to either the grand or petite finals.
Army won MC's semi with a time of 6:03.90. Virginia was second crossing in 6:05.50, followed by Delaware (6:06.56), Bucknell (6:08.78), Temple (6:10.25), North Carolina (6:11.06) and Marietta (6:13.87).

With only seven entrants in the D2/D3 8+ race, the Pioneers went directly into Sunday's final and took third place. Mercyhurst had open water on the field and won with a time of 6:18.07.
Washington College and Marietta batted for second and third with the Shoremen edging the Pioneers at the line. Washington College posted a time of 6:35.88, while the Pioneers crossed in 6:38.65.
Saint Mary's (6:58.83) was next across the finish line, followed by Franklin & Marshall (7:00.61), Carnegie Mellon (7:06.82) and the Merchant Marine Academy (7:45.70).

Marietta travels to Tennessee next weekend for the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship Friday and Saturday (April 14-15).
