MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from Kenyon College Saturday (March 25) afternoon at Marietta Field. The Pioneers won the first game, 6-0, and completed the sweep with a 5-2 win in game two.
Marietta improves to 8-12 on the season. Kenyon slips to 8-14 overall.
Senior
Alison Kach (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) (4-4) tossed the complete game shutout scattering four singles and striking out four Kenyon hitters. She walked three.
The Pioneers broke open a one-run game with five runs in their last two at bats. The first three hitters in the Marietta lineup each had two hits as the Pioneers had 11 in the game.
Marietta got on the board in the bottom of the first inning.
Ali Prologo (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) doubled to center field to lead off the inning.
Brianna Finck (New Lexington, Ohio/Crooksville) followed with an RBI single to center field.
Kenyon starter Austen Whibley worked out of a bases loaded jam in the third inning but couldn't avoid trouble in the fifth and sixth innings. Marietta scored twice in the fifth and added three more runs in the sixth.
Cierra Bloom (Dennison, Ohio/Claymont) smacked a triple in the fifth inning that scored
Kaitlin Klinchock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon), who reached on a single.
Alyssa Cook (Akron, Ohio/Ellet) followed with a single to center scoring Bloom for a 3-0 Pioneer lead.
Finck collected her second RBI of the game with a single in the sixth. Two other Pioneer runs scored on a Kenyon error doubling the Marietta lead to 6-0.
Whibley (2-9) pitched 6.0 innings and allowed six runs on 11 hits. She struck out one and did not issue a walk.
Prologo, Finck, Klinchock and Bloom each went 2-for-4. Finck had two RBI, while Prologo and Klinchock each had a double and Bloom had a triple.
Marietta struck first in the second game with two runs in the first inning. Once again Prologo was the spark plug leading off with a single and moving to second on a ground out. Klinchock doubled scoring Prologo.
Ariann Barile (Roaming Shores, Ohio/Jefferson) followed with an RBI single plating Klinchock.
Kenyon finally got on the board with a run in the third. The ladies added another in the fifth to even the score, 2-2.

Jocelyn White (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) (2-5) retired six of the last seven Kenyon batters she faced to get the win. White threw 7.0 innings and allowed two runs on five hits with one walk.
An unearned run in the home half of the fifth inning gave Marietta a 3-2 lead. Prologo singled and was sacrificed to second. A ground out moved her to third base with two outs. But a Kenyon error allowed Prologo to score.
Brey Mays (Bloomingdale, Ohio/Indian Creek) had an RBI double and
Alexis Reese (Canton, Ohio/Perry) an RBI single in the sixth inning extending Marietta's lead to 5-2.
Whibley (2-10) took the loss in game two throwing 6.0 innings. She allowed five runs on 10 hits with a pair of walks.
Prologo was the lone Pioneer with two hits in the game. Klinchock, Bloom and Mays each had a double.
