Box Score 2 YORK, Pa. — Marietta College completed an undefeated weekend as the Pioneers won their final two matches at the York Spartan Volleyball Classic Saturday (Sept. 24) afternoon. The Pioneers improved to 13-6 on the season with a 3-0 win over King's College and a 3-2 victory against Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham.
Marietta defeated King's (9-6 overall) 25-21, 25-13 and 25-10.
Amanda Arrowood (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Groveport Madison) led the Pioneers with 11 kills.
Mallory Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry) and
Grace Haas (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) each had eight kills in the match.
Cassie Staten (Athens, Ohio/Athens) notched 29 assists directing the Marietta attack. Defensively,
Emily Peters (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) had a team-best six digs. Staten and
Erica Denallo (Parma, Ohio/Independence) had five digs apiece.
In the final match of weekend, the Pioneers needed five games to down Fairleigh Dickinson (10-6 overall). Marietta posted game scores of 23-25, 25-22, 26-24, 23-25 and 15-8 for the victory.
Three Pioneers finished with double figure kills.
Hunter Barnes (Duncan Falls, Ohio/Philo) led the way with 20 followed by Vodopich with 18 and Haas with 10. Staten dished out 49 assists.
Peters again anchored the Marietta defense finishing the match with 27 digs. Denallo had 16 digs, while Vodopich notched 14.
Marietta travels to Wilmington for a tri-match on Friday (Sept. 30). The Pioneers play Wilmington College at 3 p.m. and Adrian College at 5 p.m. Fans can follow all the Pioneer teams all year long at
