GAMBIER, Ohio —
Kaitlin Klinchock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) and
Ali Prologo (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) went a combined 6-for-7 with nine runs batted leading Marietta College to a 15-4 win in the second game of a doubleheader at Kenyon College Saturday (March 26) afternoon. Kenyon won the first game 5-2 for the split. The Pioneers are now 10-10 overall, while Kenyon moves to 10-8 on the season.
Both Klinchock and Prologo were one hit away from hitting for the cycle. Klinchock needed a double and Prologo a triple to complete the cycle.
Marietta exploded for seven runs in the second inning to take a commanding 8-0 lead. The Pioneers added three more in the third and four in the fifth for the five-inning, run rule victory.
Prologo and Klinchock each crushed three-run home runs in the second inning rally. Prologo added an RBI double in the third and Klinchock knocked in another run with a triple in the fifth.
For the game, Klinchock was 3-for-4 with five RBI, a triple and a home run. Prologo finished 3-for-3 with four RBI, a double and a home run.
Brianna Finck (New Lexington, Ohio/Crooksville) and
Brey Mays (Bloomingdale, Ohio/Indian Creek) each had two hits in the game.
Kristina LaRocca (Strasburg, Ohio/Strasburg Franklin) (3-1) started and got the win. She worked 4.1 innings and was charged with four runs on seven hits.
Jocelyn White (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) tossed the final 0.2 innings.
Austen Whibley (7-6), the game one winner for Kenyon, took the loss. Whibley threw 1.1 innings and allowed four runs on three hits. Kenyon used two other pitchers in the game.
In the first game, Kenyon scored three times in the first inning and built a 5-0 lead with runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Marietta finally got on the board with a pair of runs in the seventh on a home run off the bat of Mays.
Whibley went the distance in the circle scattering five hits and striking out three. White (2-4) started and took the loss. She threw 4.2 innings and gave up four runs, one earned, on six hits.
Reagan Tom (Chandlersville, Ohio/Philo) pitched the final 1.1 innings allowing one unearned run on three hits.
