ADA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's soccer team allowed four second half goals in a 4-0 loss at Ohio Northern University Saturday (Oct. 29) afternoon. The Pioneers finish the 2016 season with a 7-7-5 overall record and a 1-4-4 Ohio Athletic Conference mark. The Polar Bears improve to 14-3-0 overall and 8-1-0 in the OAC.
After playing to a scoreless tie through the first half, Ohio Northern got on the board early in the second period. Alyssa Manley took a long pass from Rose Nienaber and beat Marietta keeper
Rebecca Tenney (Pepper Pike, Ohio/Orange) from 18-yards out for the game winner in the 49th minute.
Manley tallied her second goal of the match at the 54:14 mark when she lofted a volleyball over Tenney's head from 20-yards away. 30 seconds later Nienaber scored with an assist from Shelby Stephens to make it 3-0. Nienaber added a second goal in the 58th minute for the final margin.
Tenney had five saves in goal for the Pioneers. Meagan Grierson started in goal for ONU and recorded a pair of saves.
For the match, Ohio Northern outshot the Pioneers 16-3. The Polar Bears also held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
