WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College women's basketball team dropped an 86-63 decision Saturday (Jan. 16) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference action. The Pioneers slip to 9-6 overall and 3-5 in the OAC, while Otterbein moves to 7-8 on the season and 2-6 in league play.
After playing to a 22-22 tie at the end of the first quarter, the Cardinals outscored Marietta in each of the last three periods. Otterbein shot a sizzling 62.1% from the floor in the first half and led by nine, 42-33, at the break.
Amisha Herd (Zanesville, Ohio/West Muskingum) led Marietta with nine points.
Brooke Borich (Beverly, Ohio/Fort Frye) and
Morgan Liedtke (Lowell, Ohio/Fort Frye) each scored eight points, while
Jo Herd-Middlebrooks (Columbus, Ohio/DeSales) and
Megan Dixon (Londonderry, Ohio/Vinton County) chipped in with seven points apiece. Herd-Middlebrooks had a team-best four rebounds.
Otterbein's Dani Kissel scored a game-high 21 points and dished out four assists. Amariah Huck notched a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Ali Cartnal and Abby Miduri reached double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Feaira Crews pulled down 12 boards.
For the game, Marietta shot 40.7% (24-of-59) from the floor, 22.2% (4-of-18) from three-point range and 47.8% (11-of-23) at the line. The Cardinals were 36-of-68 (52.9%) from the floor, 8-of-16 (50.0%) behind the arc and 6-of-8 (75.0%) at the line.
Otterbein dominated the glass outrebounding the Pioneers 46-28. Marietta turned the ball over 16 times, while the Cardinals committed 23 turnovers.
