TIFFIN, Ohio — Top-seeded Heidelberg University defeated Marietta College 3-0 Tuesday (Nov. 3) evening in the first round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament. The Student Princes posted set scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-15 improving to 24-6 on the season. The Pioneers end their 2015 campaign with a 9-20 record.
Heidelberg jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in the first set and never looked back. The Student Prince attack recorded 46 kills and a .270 attack percentage en route to the three-set sweep.
A trio of Pioneers finished with four kills.
Mallory Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry),
Amanda Arrowood (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Groveport Madison) and
Devin Walter (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) each notched four kills in the match.
Erica Denallo (Independence, Ohio/Independence) and
Shauntiel Oliver-Smith (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) chipped in with three kills apiece.
Julia Moskaluk (Copley, Ohio/Revere) dished out 16 assists and had a team-best 15 digs. Libero
Mary Ervin (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) recorded 13 digs, while Vodopich had 12 digs.
