Box Score 2 LEXINGTON, Va. — Marietta College suffered two more losses at the Washington and Lee Volleyball Invitational Saturday (Sept. 6) afternoon. The Pioneers fell to Birmingham-Southern 3-0 and to Maryville 3-2. Marietta drops to 1-8 on the season.
Birmingham-Southern (5-2 overall) downed the Pioneers in straight sets 25-18, 25-18 and 25-22. Junior
Kennedy Clyde (Chagrin Falls/Hawken School) led Marietta with eight kills and a pair of service aces. Freshman
Erica Denallo (Independence/Independence) added six kills.

Chloe Janson (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central) had a match-high seven blocks. Defensive specialist
Mallory Vodopich (Canton/Massillon Perry) recorded a team-best 15 digs, while Denallo had 12 digs. Senior setter
Laura Mauer (Terre Haute, Ind./North) posted 23 assists.
Maryville (4-3 overall) escaped with set scores of 25-19, 20-25, 25-13, 24-26 and 15-13. Janson and Clyde led the Pioneer attack with 12 and eight kills, respectively. Janson added six more bloxks, while Clyde recorded four blocks and 11 digs.
Vodopich anchored the back line with 16 digs. Mauer dished out 35 assists and had three blocks at the net.
Marietta travels to Hiram College for a tri-match next Saturday (Sept. 13). The Pioneers play Hilbert College at 3:00 p.m. and Hiram at 5:00 p.m. Fans can follow the Pioneers all season long at
