Women's Basketball stung by Yellow Jackets on Senior Day

Box Score MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College women's basketball team closed the home portion of its schedule with an 82-59 loss to Baldwin Wallace University Saturday (Feb. 15) afternoon. Playing in their 100th consecutive game for the Pioneers, seniors Tori Dixon (Londonderry/Vinton County) and Paige Lamb (Marietta/Marietta) were honored before the game.

Baldwin Wallace (18-5 overall, 13-3 OAC) hit four three-pointers in the first sox minutes of the game to build an early 10-point lead, 16-6. The Yellow Jackets maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.

Marietta (10-13, 4-12 OAC) trailed by 22 points, 47-25, at halftime. The Yellow Jackets lead by as many as 29 points, 75-46, with 7:24 left in the second half.

Dixon and junior Jessica Brogan (Cincinnati/Anderson) each scored 10 points to lead the Pioneers. Junior Candice Alexander (Fairborn/Fairborn) added nine points and a team-high six rebounds.

Alissa Munro hit 4-of-7 three-pointers and finished with 17 points for BW. Shari Mangas sank three from behind the arc and had 13 points, while Audrey Smolik chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds. Lexi Rohrbach grabbed a game-high eight rebounds to go along with 11 points.

Baldwin Wallace outrebounded the Pioneers, 45-38. The Yellow Jackets turned the ball over 14 times, while Marietta committed 11 turnovers.

For the game, Marietta shot 33.3% (23-of-69) from the floor, 21.1% (4-of-19) from three-point range and 69.2% (9-of-13) at the free throw line. Baldwin Wallace was 32-of-64 (50.0%) from the floor, 10-of-18 (55.6%) behind the arc and 8-of-12 (66.7%) at the line.
