Box Score WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster defeated Marietta College 1-0 in overtime Tuesday (Sept. 24) night in men's soccer action. The Fighting Scots scored the game-winner with just three seconds left on the clock in the first extra period.
With time running out in the first overtime period, Wooster (2-4-1 overall) sophomore defender Matt Ehrenburg took a shot that was blocked by Marietta (3-5) senior goalkeeper
Bobby Thaxton (Milford/Milford). Senior forward George Skelly gathered the loose ball and shot it over Thaxton for the game-winner.
Wooster controlled the ball for most of the match and held a commanding 22-6 advantage in shots, including 3-0 in overtime. Each team took four corners in the match.
Senior
Chris Stollar (Marietta/Marietta) started in goal for Marietta and made four saves in the first 45 minutes. Thaxton took over at halftime and recorded five saves.
Wooster also split the goal keeping duties with senior Matthew Canter playing the first half and senior Aaron McKee the rest of the match. McKee made one save.
