ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Marietta College volleyball team lost to No. 10 ranked Mount Union in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Tuesday (Nov. 5) evening. The Purple Raiders swept the Pioneers in three sets, 25-16, 25-13 and 25-16.
Marietta finishes the season with an overall record of 12-18. Mount Union, the top seed, improves to 28-4 on the season and advances to the semifinals on Friday. The Purple Raiders will play fourth-seeded Otterbein in the semifinals.
Mount Union set the tone early jumping out to a 6-1 lead in the first set. The Purple Raiders posted an impressive .444 attack percentage in the opening set as they cruised to the 25-16 win.
Marietta struggled to get its offense going in the second and third sets. The Pioneers managed 11 kills in the two sets but committed 11 attack errors.
Junior Nicole Snyder and senior Taylor Webb led the Mount Union attack. Snyder tallied 12 kills and 14 digs, while Webb recorded a match-high 13 kills.

Rachel Hackenberg (Canal Winchester/Franklin Heights) led the Pioneers with six kills and six blocks. Sophomore
Keri Horton (Westland, Mich./Wayne Memorial) had four kills and four blocks, while classmate
Chloe Janson (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central) notched five kills.
Senior
Amber Wiley (Brunswick/Brookside) had a team-best 11 digs in her final match. Junior setter
Laura Mauer (Terre Haute, Ind./North) dished out 16 assists.
The Pioneers were making their third straight trip to the OAC Tournament and 17th appearance in program history. Marietta finished second in 1985 and 1987 falling to the top-seeded Ohio Northern Polar Bears both times.??
