Women's Basketball falls at home to Otterbein

Box Score MARIETTA, Ohio – Otterbein University defeated Marietta College by the score of 78-57 Wednesday (Jan. 23) in Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball action. The Cardinals improve to 15-3 overall and 9-2 in the OAC. The Pioneers fall to 6-12 on the season and 1-10 in league play.

The first half featured 11 lead changes as neither team led by more than five points for the first 17 minutes.

Junior Tori Dixon (Londonderry/Vinton County) hit one of her five first-half three-pointers to give the Pioneers a 32-30 lead with 3:37 left in the period. Otterbein closed the half on a 9-0 run to lead 39-32 at the break.

Dixon finished with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting. She was 6-of-11 behind the arc. Dixon also dished out three assists,

Following a Dixon trey to start the second half, Otterbein pulled away with a 22-4 run building a 22-point lead, 61-39, with 13:03 left in the game. The Pioneers could get no closer than 16 points the rest of the way.

In addition to Dixon's game-high 20 points, junior Paige Lamb (Marietta/Marietta) scored a career-high 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Lamb pulled down a game-best seven rebounds.

Hannah Day led the Cardinals with 20 points hitting 5-of-8 from long range. Day grabbed seven boards. Chelsea Reed added 14 points and Allie Leopard scored 10 points and dished out seven assists.

Marietta finished 21-of-55 (38.2%) from the floor, 9-of-20 (45.0%) behind the arc and 6-of-9 (66.7%) at the line. Otterbein shot 51.6% (32-of-62) from the floor, 57.9% (11-of-19) from three-point range and 37.5% (3-of-8) at the line.

The Cardinals held a slim 36-32 edge on the glass. Marietta committed 17 turnovers to just nine for Otterbein.
