Transylvania defeats Men's Soccer 4-1

Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Marietta College men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision at Transylvania (Ky.) University Saturday (Sept. 22) afternoon. With the loss, Marietta falls to 3-5 on the season. Transylvania improves to 5-1-1 overall.

Transylvania scored three first half goals including one in the 9th minute to take control of the game. Taylor Ballard took a through ball from Eric Froschauer and placed the ball into the lower left corner for the score.

Froschauer and Luke Dehner added unassisted goals to give Transylvania a 3-0 lead at halftime. Defensively, Transylvania held Marietta without a shot in the opening period.

Marietta got on the board in the 58th minute when Tony Mata (Houston, Texas/South) found Lucas Eick (Hartville/Marlington) open in the box. Eick 's shot beat Transylvania's Cody Waltrip to spoil the shutout bid.

Froschauer tallied the final goal of the match for Transylvania off an assist from Darby Lennox in the 83rd minute.

Chris Stollar (Marietta/Marietta) had four saves in net for Marietta. Taylor Nossokoff played the first half in goal for Transylvania, while Waltrip handled the second. Waltrip made two saves.

Transylvania took 10 shots to Marietta's three. Marietta held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

Marietta returns home next Saturday (Sept. 29) to open Ohio Athletic Conference play against Heidelberg University. Kick off is set for 4 p.m.
