Pioneer men's and women's basketball begin OAC Tournament play

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College men's basketball team begins defense of their Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament championship on Tuesday (Feb. 21) in Ban Johnson Arena. The Pioneers are the No. 3 seed in the tournament and will play the winner of No. 6 Ohio Northern and No. 7 Mount Union. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. [Men's Bracket]

Marietta finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-8 and 12-6 in the OAC. John Carroll (18-6, 13-5) earned the top seed while Capital (16-9, 13-5) is the No. 2 seed.

Ticket prices for the Pioneers' quarterfinal game are $7 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, $2 for non-OAC students and free to all OAC students. There will be no advanced ticket sales and the door will open at Ban Johnson at 5:30 p.m., two hours before game time.

Mount Union (11-14, 7-11) travels to Ohio Northern (12-13, 8-10) Monday (Feb. 20) for a 7:30 p.m. game.

The winner of the Mount Union/Ohio Northern vs. Marietta game will advance to the semifinals and play at Capital on Thursday (Feb. 23) at 7:30 p.m. The championship game is slated for 7:30 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 25) at the highest remaining seed.

The Marietta College women's team earned a spot in the OAC tournament for the first time since the 2004-05 season. The Pioneers are the No. 8 seed and will travel to No. 5 Baldwin-Wallace for a 7:30 p.m. game on Monday. [Women's Bracket]

The Pioneers ended the regular season 10-15 overall and 5-13 in the OAC. Baldwin-Wallace posted a 16-9 mark, 11-7 in the conference. The winner advances to meet No. 4 seed Capital (17-8, 12-6) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
