Women’s Basketball falls in regular season finale at John Carroll

Box Score UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Marietta College women's basketball team fell in its regular season finale to the John Carroll Blue Streaks 93-63 Saturday (Feb. 18) afternoon. Marietta is now 10-15 overall and 5-13 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. John Carroll is now 9-15 overall and 6-12 in the OAC. [Box Score]

Marietta is the number eight seed in the OAC tournament this week. The Pioneers will travel to Baldwin-Wallace on Monday (Feb. 20) night for a 7:30 p.m. tip.

Junior post Aleisha Guiler (Lower Salem/Monroe Central) led the Pioneers with 16 points and six rebounds. Freshman Lindsay Deemer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) scored eight points with a game-high eight boards. Sophomore guard Tori Dixon (Londonderry/Vinton County) added eight points in the loss.

Melissa Spahar scored a game-high 26 points with four rebounds. Emilee Ritchie scored 19 points with four steals and Beth Switzer chipped in with 15 points and six boards.

The Pioneers shot 36.1% (22-of-61) from the field, 22.2% (4-of-18) from three and 78.9% (15-of-19) from the free throw line.

John Carroll finished the game shooting 50% (32-of-64) from the field, 50% (9-of-18) from behind the arc and 80% (20-of-25) from the charity stripe.

John Carroll held a 40-38 edge in rebounding and committed 12 turnovers compared to 19 for Marietta.
