ADA, Ohio – The Marietta College women's basketball team could not overcome a slow start as it fell on the road Saturday (Dec. 1) afternoon at Ohio Northern by the score of 75-48. The loss drops the Pioneers overall record to 4-2 and 1-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Ohio Northern improves to 5-1 and 1-0 in conference play.
The Polar Bears raced out to a 17-4 lead and Marietta was unable to get back into the game. The Pioneers suffered from cold shooting in the first half hitting just 7-of-32 (21.9%) shot attempts. Marietta also committed 11 turnovers in the opening period.
Senior forward Morgan Dumbaugh layed one in with two seconds left in the first half to extend Ohio Northern's lead to 41-18 at the break. Dumbaugh scored 13 of her 16 points in the first 20 minutes.
Junior forward Cenzie Yoder led the Polar Bears with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Senior forward Joanna Snyder added 12 points.

Candice Alexander (Fairborn/Fairborn)# scored six points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. .
Marietta finished the game shooting 26.5% (18-of-68) from the field, 19.0% (4-of-21) from behind the arc and 80.0% (8-of-10) from the free throw line. Ohio Northern finished the game shooting 42.0% (29-of-69) from the field, 7.7% (1-of-13) from three and 51.6% (16-of-31) from the charity stripe.
