MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College men's basketball team didn't start off Tuesday (Nov. 20) night's contest with visiting Waynesburg (Pa.) in good fashion, but ended on the right note as the Pioneers ran away from the Jackets 90-63 inside Ban Johnson Arena. Marietta improves to 2-1 on the season while Waynesburg falls to 1-2.

Jon VanderWal. The last 13:07 of the first half would be dominated by the Pioneers however as Marietta outscored the Yellow Jackets 40-11 the rest of the half, giving Marietta a 40-28 lead at the intermission.
Marietta continued its hot shooting in the second half as the Pioneers started the second stanza on an 18-4 run to lead 58-32 with 14:25 to play in regulation. Marietta hit 21-of-30 shot attempts in the second half for a scorching 70.0% shooting percentage.
The Pioneers stretched the lead to as many as 28 points in the second half as it cruised to the 90-63 victory.

Thomas Ellis led Waynesburg with 11 points and team-high five rebounds for the Jackets. Casey Hope added 10 points while EJ Coleman chipped in with eight points.
Marietta finished the game shooting 58.7% (37-of-63) from the floor, 50% (11-of-22) from downtown and 55.6% (5-of-9) from the free throw line.
Waynesburg shot 37.9% (22-of-58) from the field, 22.2% (4-of-18) from behind the arc and 78.9% (15-of-19) from the charity stripe.
Marietta held the edge in rebounding 36-31 and committed 13 turnovers to Waynesburg's 16.
