MARIETTA, Ohio – The College of Wooster outlasted Marietta College to win 3-2 Saturday (Oct. 13) morning in non-conference volleyball action. The Fighting Scots improve to 14-10 on the season, while the Pioneers fall to 13-9 overall. The set scores were 25-18, 26-24, 14-25, 19-24 and 15-8. [

Rachel Hackenberg (Canal Winchester/Franklin Heights)# had 17 kills to lead the Pioneer attack. Hackenberg also notched a pair of solo blocks in the match. Senior outside hitter #
Alex VanGundy (Powell/Olentangy Liberty)# chipped in with 13 kills.
Freshmen #
Keri Horton (Westland, Mich./Wayne Memorial)# and #
Chloe Janson (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central)# each had 12 kills. Janson led the Pioneers with six blocks, while Horton blocked three Scot attacks.
Senior libero #
Jen Braun (Chagrin Falls/Kenston)# had 32 digs in the back row for the Pioneers. Braun now has 1,804 career digs and is just six digs shy of the school record held by Becca Holzworth of 1,810.
Sophomore setter #
Laura Mauer (Terre Haute, Ind./North)# dished out 50 assists and had 20 digs and two blocks. Defensive specialists #
Mary Ervin (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange)# and #
Amber Wiley (Brunswick/Brookside)# had 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
