Aleisha Guiler (Lower Salem/Monroe Central) scored a game-high 20 points and snagged a game-high 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard
Tori Dixon (Londonderry/Vinton County) added 10 points with two assists. Senior guard Kristeva Rowe also scored 10 points with four rebounds.
Kristi Kotterman led Otterbein with 15 points, seven boards and five assists. Shea McCoy scored 14 points with six rebounds and five assists. Tabatha Piper scored 12 points while Hannah Day added 10 in the win.
The Cardinals trailed only once in the contest as it held a big margin for most of the game. The Cardinals led 37-25 at the break.
Otterbein stretched the lead to as many as 22 points in the second half before Marietta made one final run. The Pioneers were able to cut the deficit to eight points with less than a minute to go, but could get no closer as Otterbein held on for the win.
Marietta shot 31.9% (22-of-69) from the field, 23.5% (4-of-17) from behind the arc and 61.9% (13-of-21) from the free throw line.
Otterbein finished the game shooting 46.6% (27-of-58) from the field, 23.1% (3-of-13) from three and 70.8% (17-of-24) from the free throw line.
The Pioneers held the edge on the boards 46-41 but committed 20 turnovers to the Cardinals 17.
Marietta stays on the road with a 7:30 p.m. game on Wednesday (Feb. 1) at Wilmington College.
