Kevin Knab (Lakewood/Lakewood)# led all scorers with 25 points, setting the pace for Marietta as it dropped the visiting Baldwin-Wallace Yellow Jackets 74-51 Saturday (Jan. 21) afternoon inside Ban Johnson Arena. The 23-point victory helps avenge the 93-74 Baldwin-Wallace win in Berea back in December. [

Marietta is now 11-6 overall and 6-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Baldwin-Wallace falls to 10-7 overall and 5-5 in the OAC.

After Marietta opened with a layup in its first possession, Baldwin-Wallace scored 11 straight to take the energy out of a packed Ban Johnson Arena. Marietta fought back through the rest of the first half cutting the lead down to three, at 30-27 off a #Brain Crader# trey with 1:26 to play before intermission. The Yellow Jackets stretched the lead back to four, 33-29, at the half.
Marietta started the second half on a 15-3 run to lead 44-36 with 15:06 to play in regulation. Marietta's first double-digit lead came with 8:08 to play when a Knab jumper put the home side up 53-42. The lead would balloon down the stretch as Marietta cruised to the 74-51 victory.
The Pioneers only allowed 18 second half points to the Yellow Jackets as Baldwin-Wallace shot 6-of-24 (25%) from the field and committed 10 turnovers in the second stanza.
Baldwin-Wallace was led Kyle Payne with 16 points and game-high eight boards. Kevin Krakowiak scored 14 while Chris Ameen scored 13 points off the bench.
Marietta finished the game shooting 49.1% (27-of-55) from the field, 30.8% (4-of-13) from behind the arc and 72.7% (16-of-22) from the free throw line.
Baldwin-Wallace shot 36.8% (21-of-57) from the field, 18.2% (4-of-22) from three and 35.7% (5-of-14) from the charity stripe.
Marietta held the edge in rebounding at 39-33 and committed 14 turnovers compared to 19 for the Yellow Jackets. The Pioneers turned the ball over only twice in the second half.
Marietta returns to action on Wednesday (Jan. 25) as the Pioneers travel to rival Muskingum University for an OAC battle. Tip-off from New Concord is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
