Women’s Soccer Loses to Wooster

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College women's soccer team lost to the College of Wooster by the score of 3-1 Wednesday afternoon. The loss drops the Pioneers to 1-2 on the season. Wooster is also 1-2 overall. [Box Score] [Photo Gallery]

Freshman forward Stevie Reilly (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park Senior) scored her first career goal to give Marietta a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute. Fellow classmate Madison Bostard (Orient/Central Crossing) served the ball into the 6-yard box and Wooster junior goalkeeper Michele Ring failed to control the ball leaving a wide open net for Reilly.

The scored remained 1-0 in favor of the Pioneers until Wooster went on a scoring spree midway through the second half. The Fighting Scots scored three goals in a six-minute span to secure the victory.

Junior midfielder Erin Davison took a cross from junior Paige Piper and found the back of the net in the 71st minute to tie the score at 1-1. Piper then headed home a pass from senior Bri Fulmer in the 74th minute for the game winner, Wooster's final goal was an unassisted tally from senior Mary Riney in the 77th minute.

For the match, Marietta was outshot 23-8. Sophomore keeper Kaitlyn Pearse (Galena/Olentangy Orange) recorded nine saves for the Pioneers, while Ring had five.

The Pioneers travel to Mount St. Joseph's this Saturday, September 10th, for a 12:00 p.m. match.
