Following a 1:15 lightning delay, the Golden Tornadoes wasted little time taking the early lead. Midfielder Garrett Masters found the back of the net in the ninth minute with assists from Josh Mann and Jesse Herman.
Geneva took that 1-0 lead into halftime. The Tornadoes struck again early in the second half when Jake McCracken scored an unassisted goal in the 58th minute, his ninth goal of the season.
For the match, Geneva took 16 shots to Marietta's five. The Tornadoes also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper
Chris Stollar (Marietta/Marietta) had seven saves in net for Marietta. Geneva's Bryan Butler notched four saves in the shutout.
Marietta returns home this Saturday, September 24th for a 1 p.m. match against Waynesburg College (Pa.).
