Aleisha Guiler (Lower Salem/Monroe Central)# set a school record with 21 rebounds and scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Marietta College women's basketball team to a 73-60 win over Ursuline College Thursday (Dec. 29) in the first round of the Ohio Wesleyan Hoops For Hope Tournament. The Pioneers improve to 8-3 overall while Ursuline falls to 3-8. [

The Pioneers scored the first 14 points of the game and never looked back. Marietta led by ten at the half, 42-32.
Ursuline trimmed the deficit to six points, 46-40, with 15:14 left in the game. Marietta responded with five straight points to push the margin back into double figures.
The Pioneers' biggest lead came at the 5:53 mark of the second half. Sophomore #
Tori Dixon (Londonderry/Vinton County)# completed the old fashioned three-point play to give Marietta a 68-47 lead.

Heather Booth (Newport/Frontier)# hit 6-of-9 from the floor and added 13 points off the bench.
Guiler's record-setting night included 11 offensive rebounds and 10 on the defensive glass. Her 21 rebounds was also a tournament record. She connected on 7-of-16 shot attempts and was 4-of-5 from the line.
Katie Cappello scored 21 points to lead Ursuline. Laura Campbell added 14 points and a team-best seven rebounds.
For the game, Marietta was 26-of-71 (36.6%) from the floor, 6-of-23 (26.1%) from three-point range and 15-of-22 (68.2%) from the free throw line.
Urusline shot 37.3% (22-of-59) from the floor, 31.3% (5-of-16) from behind the arc and 68.8% (11-of-16) from the line.
Marietta won the battle of the boards, 49 to 41. Ursuline committed 17 turnovers to Marietta's 16.
The Pioneers advance to the championship game tomorrow at 3 p.m. against the host, Ohio Wesleyan University.
