MARIETTA, Ohio – All five starters scored in double figures as the Marietta College women's basketball team opened the 27th annual Jim Meagle Turkey Shoot with an 83-72 win over Mount St. Joseph. The Pioneers improve to 3-1 on the season and Mount St. Joseph drops to 0-4. [

Despite a cold shooting performance in the first half, Marietta took a 33-29 lead into halftime. The Pioneers shot just over 30% in the period, but only turned the ball over seven times and connected on 10-of-12 free throws.
Marietta heated up after the intermission and controlled the game in the second half. The Pioneers shot over 56% in the period.
Mount St. Joseph opened the second half with a 4-0 run to tie the game at 33-33. Marietta quickly responded with a 7-0 run to regain the lead, 40-33, at the 16:46 mark.
The Lions kept the game within reach and managed to tie the game, 56-56, on a pair of free throws by Courtney Cole with 9:20 remaining.
Again, the Pioneers rose to the challenge and outscored the Lions 13-1 over the next five minutes to take command of the game, 69-57. Mount St. Joseph would get no closer than six points the rest of the way.

Melanie Monahan paced the Lions with 18 points. Erin Eagan scored 17 points while Katie Jo Collins chipped in with 13.
Marietta will play Brescia University in the championship game tomorrow at 3 p.m. Mount St. Joseph plays Pitt-Greensburg in the consolation game at 1 p.m. Brescia defeated Pitt-Greensburg 69-67 in the other first round game this evening.
