Chris Stollar (Marietta/Marietta)# attempted to clear the ball but his kick deflected off of Purple Raider Joey Trocchio and into the Pioneers' goal.
Mount Union opened the scoring in the first half when Thomas Beck dribbled into the 18-yard box and shot the ball into the upper left corner of the net in the 29th minute. The Pioneers responded 10 minutes later as Zimmerman tallied his first goal with an assist from Alexander and freshman midfielder #

Mount's Anthony Grenga gave the Purple Raiders a 2-1 lead in the 48th minute off an assist from Kevin Cindric.
Stollar recorded nine saves in goal for Marietta, while Jon Critell had three for the Purple Raiders.
For the match, Mount Union took 24 shots, including 12 on goal, and 11 corner kicks. Marietta had 14 total shots, six on goal, and took two corners.
The Pioneers host Muskingum University Tuesday at 4 p.m.
