The Pioneers took advantage of a Heidelberg mistake to take a 1-0 lead midway through the first half. A 'Berg own goal in the 22nd minute gave Marietta the early lead.
Sophomore midfielder Kelsey Hogan scored the equalizer for Heidelberg with an unassisted goal in the 63rd minute. Hogan took a shot from 30 yards out into the lower left corner to knot the score at 1-1.
The game winner came off a corner kick. Sophomore midfielder Aleseya Evans headed in the corner kick from senior midfielder Kristen Schneider with just over two minutes remaining in the match.

Kaitlyn Pearse (Galena/Olentangy Orange)# made six saves in goal for the Pioneers. Heidelberg split the match in goal with junior Molly Schriber recording three saves in the first half and sophomore Brittany Labry notching one in the second.
For the match, Heidelberg outshot the Pioneers, 21-8, and took 10 corners to Marietta's one.
Marietta returns to the pitch on Wednesday, October 26th when the Pioneers travel to Columbus for a 4 p.m. match at Capital University.
