WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Marietta College volleyball team fell at Otterbein University by the score of 3-0 Tuesday evening. The Cardinals defeated the Pioneers 25-13, 25-16 and 25-17. [Box Score]

The loss snaps a five-match winning streak for Marietta and drops the Pioneers to 13-11 overall and 4-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Otterbein, the winner of 10 straight, moves to 21-4 overall and 6-1 OAC.

Otterbein took advantage of the Pioneers' slow start and cruised through the first set. The Cardinals led 7-3 early and steadily increased their lead throughout the set as the Pioneers' attack struggled. Marietta hit minus .107 during the set.

Sophomore middle blocker #Kathryn Hanssen# led the Pioneers with nine kills on the night. Sophomore outside hitter #Paige DeVriendt (Bowling Green/Bowling Green)# added six kills and senior right side hitter #Meredith Storey (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls)# had four. Freshman middle blocker #Natalie Lanham (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington)# recorded three blocks.

Freshman setter #Laura Mauer (Terre Haute, Ind./North)# posted 19 assists. Defensively, junior libero #Jen Braun (Chagrin Falls/Kenston)# had nine digs. Freshman defensive specialist #Brittney Merritt (Akron/Copley)# added seven digs, while Mauer and senior outside hitter #Alex Weissling (Dublin/Dublin Scioto)# each had six.

Marietta hosts No. 6-ranked Heidelberg on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
