Wilder Scores Second Goal of Season in Loss to Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio — Marietta College women's soccer suffered a 4-1 loss to host Kenyon College in its final Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) tune-up of the season Tuesday (Sept. 28) afternoon. [Box Score]

The Pioneers fell to 2-7-1, while the Ladies improved to 5-5.

Kenyon produced half of its scoring in a three-minute span of each half. Katie Fee got the action started with an unassisted goal in the 28th minute. Caddie Durrett quickly made it 2-0 in favor of the Ladies when she scored off an assist from Courtney Hague in the 31st minute.

Marietta answered with its only goal of the game in the 37th minute. Junior midfielder #Jennifer Wilder (Ashland/Ashland)# converted her team-high second goal of the season when she fired a shot off the far post and into the back of the net, which sent her team into intermission trailing by one goal, 2-1.

Kenyon, however, added an unassisted goal by Virginia Rushton in the 55th minute and Fee's second goal in the 58th minute, also unassisted, en route to the 4-1 victory.

Marietta finished with six total shots, including three shots on goal. Junior midfielder #Cara Nuss (Dayton/Carroll)# and freshman forward #Melina Feitl (Broadview Heights/Holy Name )# both had a pair of shots. Kenyon ended the game with 16 shots, nine on goal, and were paced by four shots from Fee and three more from Durrett.

Freshman #Kaitlyn Pearse (Galena/Olentangy Orange)# made five saves in the loss.

The Pioneers open OAC action Saturday (Oct. 2) afternoon when Baldwin-Wallace College visits Marietta Field for a kickoff at 3 p.m.
