Men's Soccer Falls 2-1

MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College men's soccer dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting Geneva College Saturday (Sept. 25) afternoon at Marietta Field. [Box Score]

All of the scoring came in the first 28 minutes of the game. Geneva (6-1-1) took a 1-0 advantage in the 10th minute when a loose ball in front of the six-yard box brought out the keeper and David Hardwood slipped a pass to Jake McCracken who fired the shot into the open goal.

The Pioneers (0-6-3) tied the game in the 26th minute when freshman forward Keith Schwendeman (Lowell/Marietta) gained possession after a turnover and sent a pass to junior midfielder #Dustin Zimmerman, who scored on a shot past the keeper from 22 yards. It was Zimmerman's second goal of the year.

The Golden Tornados, however, wasted little time regaining the the advantage, as Teddy Kryswiecki scored the game-winner in the 28th minute. Jeb Nash assisted the goal with a cross and Kryswiecki finished the play with a one-touch shot from 10 yards.

Geneva dominated the possession and out shot Marietta 21-8. The Golden Tornados also finished with a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal. Freshman Chris Stollar (Marietta/Marietta) made seven saves in the loss.

The Pioneers continue their season Tuesday (Sept. 28) afternoon when #22 Kenyon College visits Marietta Field for a non-conference match-up at 4 p.m.
